Welcome to the Web site of the

Knypersley-Action Group.

This is a point of information for the Knypersley Action Group.

June 2009

Residents are at last seeing results and in consultation with the Highways department and Severn Trent who at the moment cannot decide who is responsible for the repairs which may be carried out in the future. It is said there is a blockage somewhere in the system but neither side say it is within their jurisdiction. The residents effected directly include Knypersley Sports centre and 4 houses starting from opposite the centre working towards the traffic lights. Residents dealing with the situation seem to be getting the co-operation of both sides and would prefer others not effected to leave it to them without any confrontational attitudes to the aurthorities.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Village green status has been approved! Thanks to all who contributed time and effort to battle the SMDC to keep this land in its natural state HOWEVER, we believe the council will oppose the decision so watch this space.

April 2009

Village Green Status has been approved and Newpoole Meadows should be able to remain 'Green'.

Council Fast Track...Public Inquiry To

Be Held Soon...

The fastracking of the Village Green application has been agreed and will go ahead. Other applications which were ahead of ours have not disagreed to our hearing jumping the que. The public inquiry has been set back to November 2008. People should have given in there evidence for the hearing with the new documentation which was sent out. Funding for the SMDC Barrister will be funded from the Affordable Housing scheme. Ours are paid for by donations by you...That's the same isn't it?

Here's a recent one. One of the oldest trees in Biddulph has been cut down out side Summerfield by some development or other but it seems they had no permission to do it! Familiar?.....lets think about it....Oak tree on Newpoole Meadows. For a (diseased) tree, it's leaves are starting up again. Environment & Preservation ???? Someones log buner will be burning well beyond midnight next winter. Carry on the good work SMDC.

New Bat Video added see Photo Page...

Latest Decomber 2007.

At a meeting in December 2007, some members representing the SMDC came to one of the Action Group meetings. It was stated that the land, now having Outline Planning Permission, was worth too much to simply give away and their hands were tied by law. Some of theSMDC members were accused of going back on their word which may indeed be true. A proposed layout (not to scale) was produced and locals asked to think about it. It contained the Councils all important (out of the blue) Elderly Housing plans. Needless to say it was rejected and strong views were voiced by Graham Falkner as to the turn around of some if not all the SMDC representitives who had vowed to help in the fight to save the Meadows.

More for November 2007.

The reason for the Knypersley Action Group:

The Knypersley Action Group has been formed to oppose the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) proposed residential housing development on the site known as Newpool Meadows, Tunstall Road, Knypersley, Biddulph. The site is a local marsh area that provides  rare local wildlife habitation. Due to the characteristics of the land and surrounding area it is particularly important to preserve it as a natural and recreational community area. What else is at stake?.... Incorporated into the developement, Biddulph would loose approx. £2.2 Million in the sale of the rest of the land to developers. This money will be used to finance further building projects out of the area in Leek and Cheadle. See Town Infrastructure...
